It starts with storytelling and sound games with objects such as I spy using the phonetic alphabet. We often sing nursery rhymes and play clapping games to help develop rhythm and rhyme.  Further activities such as the large moveable alphabet encourage children to recognise letters and their sounds and then enable them to start word building independently.

We also have a cosy book corner, where the children can go to for some quiet reflection or go with a friend or two to explore books.
